9 Month Running Break

When I first found out I was pregnant, I just assumed I would be like all those woman who spend their entire pregnancies working out and running… how hard could it be? HARD.

I tried to run during my first trimester and I want to say I got a whopping 2 runs in. The first half of my pregnancy consisted of exhaustion and being extremely uncomfortable. I decided to wait until my second trimester because everyone says your energy goes back to normal. By the time I got into my second trimester my doctor recommended against running and suggested I walk instead.

I’m in the final stretch of my pregnancy with less than 5 weeks to go. All I want to do is get back to training and participating in races. Its really hard to predict how or when I will be able to get back to running, but if all goes well and I recover quickly enough, I hope to be running again as soon as I get the all clear.

As a first time mom I have no idea what to expect. Maybe it wont be as easy to get back out on the track as I’m hoping but luckily I have the help and support of my amazing boyfriend and family. Running has always been an outlet for me and with all the changes coming soon, I cant imagine it’ll be any different.
